NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK: The First Scientists at VPCC
For this year’s National Science Week (12 – 20 August), we will be exploring the deadly inventions and innovations from Australia’s First Peoples, The First Scientists.
First Nations people have used what we now call science for over 65,000 years to adopt lessons learnt from the land, sea and sky into their ways of living through stories, song and dance.
“You may have been taught that the first scientists were just hunter-gatherers, but in fact they were some of the greatest minds of their time.” -Corey Tutt, author of the First Scientists.
These three, free, hands on, intergenerational sessions will explore:
1. The Six Noongar Seasons – Sat 12th August, 10.00am to 11.00am
2. Enduring Innovations of First Nations People – Thurs 17th August, 4.00pm to 5.00pm
3. Balance, Respect for Country and the Voice – Sat 19th August, 10.00am to 11.00am
