24th October – 30th October 2022

Noongar Radio is hosting its “Koolangkas Takeover week” for the third time, originally aligning with “Indigenous Literacy Day” which was established to raise awareness and support for literacy within Indigenous communities, particularly in isolated and remote communities.

“Koolangkas” in Noongar means children and on the 24th of October is going to be the Start of Noongar Radio’s “Koolangkas Takeover Week”. Throughout the week Koolangkas will takeover programs on Noongar Radio and interview indigenous authors, business owners, and creatives alike.

Indigenous children’s stories will be read, there will be outside broadcasts at schools, and lots of fun activities you can engage in, including projects that we are hoping for as many WA schools to be involved in.

The project is aimed at primary school children. Each student from the schools who participate will have the opportunity to become a radio star!
