Noongar Radio has been serving the community since 2009. Individuals in the community came together to form an action group, as they saw an opportunity that was not yet fulfilled.

As an introduction to the radio station, it opened with a live broadcast from the NAIDOC opening in 2009. This was the beginning of a long-standing tradition of covering community events. It was created to be a platform for first nations people to have a voice within the community and have a media which stands for and with them.
