You may not suspect you’d hear the Archibald prize being talked about in a mining union meeting but for mental health advocate, miner and unionist Nigel Gould it is currently a common reality.

The FIFO worker, originally based out of Melbourne but currently living in Perth due to border restrictions, has been asked to sit for the Archibald Prize, Australia’s most prestigious portrait award. He’s using it as an opportunity to talk about mental health and to encourage open conversation about what is happening in our lives.
